Current Project
Study to Story (S2S) Pilot
S2S is an audio production guide that humanizes published research through storytelling. S2S methodology is grounded in qualitative research, oral history and radio journalism. The intended audience for the production guide are researchers, individuals, and community organizations.
The S2S process familiarizes people with research and genreates evidence-based resources that support policy change. Often evidence based studies are what sway policymakers. Please see below for three case studies.
All S2S narratives will be hosted on a public database. The narratives provide peer-to-peer education, evidence for policy change and primary sources for journalists.
Current S2S Topics Qualitative study: Undocumented LGBTQ people's health status before and after US detention centers.
Case Study: How to improve public advocacy through effective letter writing.
Why Audio?
Audio as an educational medium spans literacy levels. Therefore, S2S narratives aim to engage new audiences with academic research. In addition, S2S narratives interpret key findings, actionable takeaways, and present a 5-10 minute overview so people can decide to read the full study or look for other primary sources.
Progress
Researchers, community members, and journalists have agreed to participate in the S2S Pilot. The groundwork has been laid, so it's time to secure the funding!
